Led by learning disabled people from the Partnership Steering Group the seminar celebrates some of the valued roles learning disabled people can and do fill, highlighting the crucial role of partnership research and teaching in tackling discrimination and social exclusion.
The Group has worked for more than 13 years alongside academics in researching and teaching about learning disability. Carlisle People First Research Group and SPICE (Supporting People in Community Employment) will also be talking about their partnership work.
It will explore the advantages and barriers to working in partnership and the unique positions learning disabled people bring to the process.
The seminar will be of interest to:
• Learning disabled people and their supporters.
• Practitioners and service providers.
• Policy makers.
• Self-advocates and self-advocacy organisations.
• Academics and students.
